PaperCut Policy
Student Printing Administrative Policy
Student accounts will be allowed 400 printed pages per semester, 200 pages for summer sessions.
Process
Each time a student prints to a College printer, a ‘pop-up window’ will appear providing the student’s remaining page balance. Student print processes will not be impacted until the student reaches the defined printing level.
When the student reaches a “zero balance” for their printing allowance,
- printing privileges for the student will be automatically suspended,
- a report of the student’s print activities will be created and analyzed by Technology Services,
- the student will meet face to face with the Dean of Student Development (or the designee) to discuss the student’s printing patterns as it relates to NIACC’s acceptable use policies and identify academic requirements that may have resulted in these the printing levels, and
- after the Dean of Student Development (or the designee) is comfortable with the information provided and is confident that no abuse of printing privileges has taken place, Technology Services staff will be notified to increase the student’s quota by 100 pages.
Review
The printing levels and limits will be reviewed annually by the Academic Technology Committee with input from the Student Senate. Included in this review will be a longitudinal report of student printing levels on campus.
