NIACC offers a range of services, including a testing center, professional tutoring, peer tutoring, math lab, academic accommodations, and FAFSA filing assistance.
The Director of Disability Services partners with students to develop an individual plan for services that may include accommodations, assistive technology, OnTrack time management, along with other services dependent on need.

High school seniors or college students can apply for financial aid through FAFSA by entering NIACC’s Federal School Code (001B77) online to determine their eligibility. Assistance is available by calling an making an appointment.

The Math Lab, situated in the math faculty offices, provides one-on-one assistance from a math faculty member or peer tutor, in addition to instructor office hours, to help students with their math questions.

The NIACC Testing Center offers proctoring services for NIACC make-up exams, placement assessments, special testing accommodations, and community member exams with appointment required for exam taking.

TRIO Student Support Services participants have the option to request 1:1 peer tutoring for college credit courses. Students referred by instructors will be matched with a tutor for consistent tutoring throughout the semester.

NIACC offers various tuition assistance programs, including the Promise Scholarship, Future Ready Iowa Last Dollar Scholarship, Trustees’ Scholarship, President’s Scholarship, and Foundation Scholarship.
NIACC and the NIACC Foundation distribute over $1.5 million in scholarships annually. To be eligible, you must complete the NIACC Foundation Scholarship application which opens on October 1st for the following year. Priority deadline for submission is March 1st.
Scholarship program for students aged 23 and older, haven’t taken a NIACC class in the past 3 years and are ready to make a change. Scholarship runs early summer and awards 2 students full tuition, fees and books and 3 students 1/2 price tuition for one academic year.
Future Ready Iowa Last Dollar Scholarship
The Last-Dollar Scholarship assists eligible Iowans in meeting workforce needs by covering tuition and institution-wide mandatory fees that remain after state and federal financial aid are applied. FAFSA submission is required to determine eligibility.
Graduates of Area II (NIACC Service Area), high schools that have earned college credit through NIACC & achieved a college GPA of 3.25 or higher are awarded scholarship money to apply to their first year of college at NIACC.
The NIACC Promise Scholarship, made possible through a generous private donation, offers free tuition to eligible high school and home school graduates form Area II (NIACC Service Area), helping them pursue and finish college.
An automatic scholarship awarded to high school seniors with an ACT score of 23 or higher. Students with comparable SAT scores may also qualify for this scholarship. Submit your ACT/SAT scores to the NIACC admissions office.
High school seniors who rank first or second in their graduating class are awarded a full-tuition scholarship. If your high school does not use class rank, a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher and composition ACT of 25 or higher (1200 SAT) can be used to award the full tuition scholarship. Submit your official high school transcript to the NIACC Admissions Office.
NIACC provides a variety of support programs to help students succeed, including veteran’s assistance, disability services, career counseling, and health services among others.
NIACC’s Academic Advisors guide students through their NIACC program utilizing a holistic advising approach that personalizes guidance to meet the unique needs of each student.

NIACC’s Education to Employment provides free services to students to help them navigate college and find high-demand careers. Students can enroll in a multi-week short-term certificate, one-year diploma, or two-year degree program.

Guided Study Sessions are interactive group study opportunities that are automatically attached to a student’s schedule for certain classes to promote academic success.

Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services
NIACC offers rehabilitation services to eligible students, which may include medial and psychological assessments, vocational evaluation, counseling, assertive technology, job training, and job placement assistance

IPASS provides intensive support and guidance to students who have a cumulative GPA below 2.4. This support includes mandatory guided study sessions and tutoring.
The OnTrack program helps students registered with NIACC Disability Services keep track of assignments, due dates, and activities by providing extra support to manage their busy schedules.

Student Assistance Program (SAP)
Free and confidential telephone consultations with masters-level clinicians who are available 24/7 365 days, along with up to six free virtual counseling sessions and referrals as needed, through SAP.

Students at NIACC have access to medical and mental health consultations through the Student Health Clinic voucher, which is free of charge. Other services such as laboratory testing and radiology are billed separately.

TRIO SSS offers academic and personal support to eligible full-time first-generation, low-income, or disabled U.S. citizen or legal resident students enrolled in a two-year degree program.

NIACC helps students apply for veteran’s educational benefits by working with the VA Certifying Official, who serves as the liaison between the students and the federal Department of Veterans Affairs. Our programs are approved by the Iowa Department of Education’s Veterans Education Unit to train eligible individuals.

The Wellness Hub is a secure space that caters to your health education, prevention, and well-being needs. You can schedule appointments or drop by as a walk-in and you’ll have access to licensed therapists, nurses, Crisis Intervention Services, and the North Iowa Community Action Organization on-site.
Skilled instructors and tutors are available Mondays through Fridays for assistance with all writing assignments, especially Composition classes.

NIACC students receive free resources, including computer labs, printing, parking, athletic event access, recreation center, wifi, cable, internet in residence halls, free online screenings, and no application or acceptance fees.
NIACC students can attend all athletic events for free by presenting their student identification card.
NIACC has three computer labs available for student use, with free printing services available in each.

NIACC’s residence hall suites offer both cable and internet access.
Free parking is available on campus for all students. Housing students are given a window sticker to park for free in housing lots.
No Application Fee or Acceptance Fee
NIACC accepts online applications year-round with no application fee. There is also no acceptance fee once admitted. International students are required to submit a non-refundable application fee.
NIACC students have access to free and anonymous online screenings for eating disorders, alcohol issues, anxiety disorders, and depression, which provide information on whether professional consultation would be helpful and inform students of appropriate resources.
NIACC students can use the Recreation Center for free, which includes an athletic training area, two levels, three classrooms, locker rooms, a suspended track, a wrestling room, a basketball court, batting cages, and a golf range, for sports practice, recreation, and intramural programming.
NIACC offers so many ways to have fun and hang out with fellow students. Organize a team to compete in intramural events or choose one of the many free events offered at NIACC or in the community like movie nights, roller skating, or axe throwing.
