North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) is excited to announce a significant milestone: the first student has successfully completed their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification test at the newly established FAA Testing Center on campus. This marks the launch of a valuable new service for students and aviation professionals in the North Iowa region.
On November 1, 2024, a 20-year-old student passed their private pilot license exam with flying colors, marking a milestone for both the individual and NIACC. This achievement launches a new chapter of service for aspiring aviation professionals in the community.
NIACC’s Testing Center is now certified to administer a variety of FAA exams, including those for pilot and drone licensing. This development eliminates the need for local students and professionals to travel long distances to complete these essential certifications.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this important step in enhancing our campus and community services,” said Testing Center & Assessment Coordinator, Kathy Mossie. “With the addition of FAA testing for drone and pilot licensing, NIACC is meeting the needs of a growing aviation industry and providing accessible opportunities for students and community members alike.”
This initiative underscores NIACC’s dedication to supporting workforce development in high-demand fields. The availability of FAA testing services on campus empowers students and professionals pursuing careers in piloting or drone operations to achieve their goals more conveniently.
