In compliance with the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF-II) requirements under the CRRSAA Act, North Iowa Area Community College acknowledges the certification and agreement form was signed and returned and that NIACC intends to use the funds to provide the mandated amount of the relief funds equal to the CARES ACT funding in emergency financial aid grants to students. NIACC will receive a total of $646,656 under the HEERF II student portion. Of those funds, $646,656 has been distributed to students as of September 30, 2021. Approximately 1,348 students at NIACC have been identified as students with exceptional need and therefore potentially eligible to receive one of the emergency financial aid grants. Grants were awarded to students based on the students expected family contribution in association with their FASFA filed. Grants were then awarded based off EFC bands for full time students and part time students. Full time students is as follows: EFC 0 – 1000 received $1,000, EFC 1001 – 5000 received $750, EFC 5001 – 10000 received $600, EFC 10001 – 50000 received $350, and EFC 50000+ received $230. Part time students is as follows: EFC 0 – 1000 received $500, EFC 1001 – 5000 received $400, EFC 5001 – 10000 received $300, EFC 10001 – 50000 received $200, and EFC 50000+ received $120. All students who have not filed a FASFA will receive the last tier based on whether they were full time or part time students. Those students who have an outstanding balance received an email to opt –in as to whether they would like the funds applied to their bill.

In compliance with the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF-II) requirements under the CRRSAA Act, North Iowa Area Community College acknowledges the certification and agreement form was signed and returned and that NIACC intends to use the funds to provide the mandated amount in emergency financial aid grants to be used by the college for COVID related expenses. NIACC will receive a total of $2,010,028 under the HEERF II institutional portion. Of those funds, $6,403 has been used as financial aid grants to Spring 2021 students who are in need. As of September 30, 2021, NIACC has used $481,666.75 to purchase technology for computers for labs and servers to provide better remote services to help with the increase of online learning to all students and faculty. We have used $28,920.06 for disinfecting machines for multiple buildings across campus as well as social distancing banners for our auditorium seats. NIACC’s food services has had increased expenses related to COVID in the amount of $31,295.15 especially the expenses of providing pre-packaged meals, to-go items, and meals to those students in quarantine during Spring Break. NIACC has spent $1,500 on mental health services to help students navigate this pandemic if they need someone to reach out to. NIACC has also contracted with a local medical provider to have nurses on campus in order to provide assistance to the students and staff who may be infected with the virus for a total of $3,500 along with testing athletes. Total lost revenue related to the decline in enrollment equaled $880,920.35. This was computed for Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021. We used the number of total credit hours record for Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021 compared to the number of total credit hours record for Summer 2019, Fall 2019, and Spring 2020. Total lost revenue for the decline in occupancy in our dormitories was $348,115.06 and total lost revenue for lost sales in our food court and bookstore was $227,707.63. These numbers was computed by using a three year average of sales. All funds have been used up to date.
