Samuel & Patricia Congello Proudly Presents Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox
Samuel & Patricia Congello proudly presents Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox at the North Iowa Community Auditorium on the NIACC campus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018. This presentation is part of the 2018-2019 Performing Arts and Leadership Series.
Proving that everything new can be old again, pianist Scott Bradlee has become a viral pop sensation after creating a series of clips for YouTube that finds him and his group Postmodern Jukebox reworking 21st century pop hits in a variety of vintage styles. He transforms songs like Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” into a ‘50s-style doo wop number, gives Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” a ‘20s jazz accent, crosses Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” with Irish folk music, and shows how Ke$ha’s “Die Young” would work as a classic country tune.
Postmodern Jukebox takes pride in putting together the right powers and personalities to create a unique and amazing experience for their fans. Creator Scott Bradlee says, “We want them to escape reality and join us for the most sensational 1920s party this side of The Great Gatsby. We want them to experience what it was like to be at the New Year’s Eve show that Sinatra would have hosted in the 1940s. We want them to feel the excitement of hearing the greats of Motown live and up close.”
Postmodern Jukebox is back… Back in Black & White! The band’s non-stop throwback carnival is on the road again with their Back in Black & White Tour. They’ve always been about using modern media to turn back the clock to a time we always imagine in shades of black and white – simpler, more carefree, without so many mind-boggling devices and distractions, every one streamlining in hi-def at any hour of the day!
Their shows bring a full band of gifted musicians, with a cast of favorite singers and tons of surprises, to a city near you. For fans who only know them from their time-warping videos, the live show is an experience on a whole other level. It’s a Roaring 20s party that would make the Great Gatsby proud, mixed with a 60s night with the Rat Pack, spiced up with a little Motor City soul and some classic sock hop rockin’ that gets audiences twisting or twerking the night away – depending on what era their mood is.
Started by Bradlee in 2009, Postmodern Jukebox has gone on to amass over one billion YouTube views with 3.5 million subscribers, and have chalked up more than 1.7 million fans on Facebook. For the past half-decade, they have toured the world, playing hundreds of shows to sold-out houses on six continents. They’ve also performed on shows like “Good Morning America,” topped iTunes and Billboard charts, and caught the attention of NPR Music, NBC News, and a wide array of celebrity fans.
