Garner
The Garner Area Community Education Center serves North Iowans in the Belmond-Klemme, Corwith-Wesley, Garner-Hayfield, and West Hancock (Britt, Kanawha) school districts.
In 1977, four school districts joined together to form a consortium to hire a coordinator to plan and implement community education classes for Belmond, Britt, Corwith-Wesley, and Kanawha. Garner-Hayfield joined the project in 1983 when the partnership with NIACC became known as the Five-School Project (now called the Four-School Project since Britt and Kanawha combined.)
The Garner Area Community Education Center opened its doors on January 7, 1992, as a partnership with the Garner-Hayfield School District, the city of Garner, and NIACC. Iowa State University Extension joined the partnership in November 1992. The Hancock County Extension Office is also located at the Center.
