Alpha Media/KGLO Proudly Presents Classic Albums Live – Fleetwood Mac: Rumours
Alpha Media/KGLO proudly presents Classic Albums Live – Fleetwood Mac: Rumours, at the North Iowa Community Auditorium on the NIACC campus at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 17th, 2018. This presentation is part of the 2017-2018 Performing Arts and Leadership Series for the 20th Anniversary Season.
Classic Albums Live (CAL) takes the world’s greatest classic albums and recreates them live, on stage – note for note, cut for cut, exactly the way they sound on the album. It is a recital performed by the world’s greatest musicians. Every song is performed in their original order from the album. Each show, a different album is performed.
The concept was created in 2003 by Craig Martin. Martin actively seeks out the best players to capture the musicianship of the original band. Martin does not create tribute bands. Instead, it’s an orchestra of rock musicians. It’s all about playing the music perfectly and honoring the bands who first recorded them. This is important music. CAL towers above the tribute bands. CAL is the musical standard for rock and their audiences quickly realize this after just one show. No costumes. No cheesy impersonations. No gimmickry. Just great music.
Rumours is the eleventh studio album by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac released in 1977. The record reached the top of both the United States Billboard chart and the United Kingdom Albums Chart. The songs “Go Your Own Way”, “Dreams”, “Don’t Stop”, and “You Make Loving Fun” were released as singles. Rumours is Fleetwood Mac’s most successful release; along with winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1978, the album has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time. Rumours has received diamond certifications in several countries, including the US, Canada, and Australia.
Rumours is the hardest album for CAL to perform. That’s quite a statement but they’ve got it covered. CAL wants the floorboards of the NIACC Auditorium to moan along with them on this album. They would love to see the ushers singing along. Everyone in the audience has owned a format of this album. If ever there was a definition of a Classic Album – Rumours is it.
The album is played in its entirety. The band will take a brief intermission and then return to the stage to play a greatest hits set from the Fleetwood Mac’s musical catalogue. Total show time approximately 2 hours.
If you’re a music lover, this show is for you. This music is timeless. Classic Albums Live is the modern-day symphony. Don’t miss it!
