Official Rules – Extreme Makeover
How to Enter:
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY; A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE CHANCES OF WINNING. Odds of winning are dependent on the number of eligible entries received. Entries will be accepted Saturday, May 25 through noon on Friday, July 5, 2024.
There are two ways to enter this contest:
a. Online Entries: In order to enter on-line, complete the on-line entry form. It includes answering a series of questions on why you feel your life deserves a college makeover. Entries will be accepted from Saturday, May 25 through noon on Friday, July 5, 2024. North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) is not responsible for problems accessing the website, technical or other conditions that disrupt the completion of the entry, or any other problems which might or might not result from this contest.
b. Mail Entries: Answer the series of questions on why you feel your life deserves a college makeover, and then mail it between Saturday, May 25 through noon on Friday, July 5, 2024, along with your name, address, date of birth, daytime and evening telephone numbers, e-mail address. Send it to NIACC at: Extreme Makeover – 500 College Drive – Mason City IA 50401. Mail entries must be postmarked on or before Friday, July 5, 2024. NIACC is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, postage-due, incomplete, illegible or mutilated entries.

Entry Limits: Limit one entry per person.
How the Finalists are Chosen:
From the eligible entries submitted, a panel of judges consisting of staff members from NIACC & The Globe Gazette will determine five (5) finalists based on which individuals have the greatest potential for the makeover. The finalists will be selected on or by Wednesday July 10, 2024.
How the Winners are Chosen:
All five (5) finalists’ entries (pictures and written entry) will be posted on NIACC’s website from Wednesday, July 10 – Wednesday, July 17.
The two winners will be announced Thursday, July 18 on NIACC’s Facebook live at 12:00pm
Prizes:
Two (2) winners will receive a “college makeover” which will consist of the following:
- Free tuition and fees for the 2024/2025 academic year (Fall & Spring Semester) up to 19 credits. Anything over 19 semester hours will be paid to the NIACC Business Office by the winner(s). Any additional course costs will be paid by the winner(s).
- Books and course materials will be provided by the NIACC BookZone per semester.
- A variety of NIACC swag from NIACC BookZone.
The three finalists not selected as the top two winners will receive 1/2 price tuition for the 2024 – 2025 academic year (Fall & Spring Semester).
The prize consists of only those items listed specifically as part of the contest. The contest winner will be responsible for payment of any and all incidental expenses, applicable taxes and other fees. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable, nor can it be exchanged for cash or credit. No cash or credit will be issued if the cost from each respective sponsor is less than the amount designated above. The makeover is subject to the policies and procedures of the sponsors. The makeover will be completed Thursday, July 18, 2024.
Eligibility:
Individuals must be 23 years or older and have not taken NIACC classes in the past three years (prior to Fall 2021, if an individual has already registered for a summer 2024 class, that individual is still eligible) to be eligible to win. You must be willing to enroll as a full-time student for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. Employees of NIACC, The Globe Gazette, and their subsidiaries, affiliates, parent or related companies, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter. Anyone participating in this contest or claiming a prize in this contest in violation of these rules will be disqualified.
Contest Deadline:
All entries must be postmarked or received by Noon Friday, July 5. NIACC is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, postage-due, incomplete, illegible or mutilated entries. NIACC is not responsible for problems accessing the e-mail, technical or other conditions that disrupt the completion of the entry, or any other problems which might or might not result from this contest.
Release; Consent To Use Likeness, Voice and Address:
The winner (1) agrees to release and indemnify NIACC and The Globe Gazette from and against any and all liability, claims, damages and actions arising directly or indirectly out of or sustained in connection with the awarding, acceptance or use of the prize(s), and (2) consents to the use by NIACC and The Globe Gazette for promotional purposes only of his/her likeness and/or voice and address (city and state) without any additional compensation. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to be bound by these official rules, including the above release. By entering this contest, each participant acknowledges that he or she is aware, or may be presumed to be aware, that his or her entry/picture(s) may be displayed on the NIACC web site as well as any of the sponsors web site or publications.
Miscellaneous:
Decisions of NIACC concerning any and all matters with respect to this contest shall be final. NIACC reserves the right to change these rules, as well as the terms and conditions of this contest, without notice. NIACC reserves the right to change the prize values at any time, or to substitute prizes of comparable value. Contest void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable. NIACC is not responsible for printing errors in the contest materials or these official rules. If the sponsors determine in their sole discretion that the integrity or fairness of this contest has been corrupted in any manner, the sponsors reserve the right to terminate the contest and to select a winner from among entries legitimately received prior to termination.
