Placement Assessments
North Iowa Area Community College uses placement assessments to determine students’ readiness for college-level courses. They evaluate students’ reading, writing and math skills and students’ results to determine which classes they can enroll in.
Placement tests are a great first step into college and can help you begin your successful educational journey by identifying your academic strengths and needs. Students do not receive a “passing” or “failing” grade for placement assessments, rather a score that indicates a certain level.
NIACC does not have any minimum score requirements for students to be accepted or to enroll.
Assessment scores are valid for three years.
If you wish to practice before testing, refer to our Placement Assessment webpage for more information on the different assessments.
Contact the Testing Center at 641-422-4237 or 1-888-GO-NIACC or email at testing.center@niacc.edu for information or to set up your appointment.
A photo ID will be required for any testing. A NIACC issued ID, driver’s license or any government issued photo ID will be accepted.
