The Performing Arts and Leadership Series Announces Kris Kristofferson & The Strangers
The Performing Arts and Leadership Series is excited to announce Kris Kristofferson & The Strangers at the North Iowa Community Auditorium on the NIACC campus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 8th, 2019.
The honors are many; the legends are legion. Backed by Merle Haggard’s band, The Strangers, three time Grammy-winner Kris Kristofferson is a national treasure. With songs like “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Help Me Make It Through The Night,” “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” and “For the Good Times,” he will be hard to resist on the North Iowa Community Auditorium stage.
Kris Kristofferson has been making things happen his entire life. Inspired by songwriters like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash, he moved to Nashville in 1965 to pursue his music. After struggling for several years, he achieved remarkable success as a country songwriter and helped redefine country songwriting. It was estimated that more than 450 artists had recorded Kristofferson’s compositions by 1987.
His renown as a songwriter led to Kristofferson’s successful career as a performer and that, in turn, brought him to the attention of Hollywood, leading to his flourishing career as a film actor. Kristofferson has acted in more than 70 films and won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in “A Star Is Born.” He’s appeared in cult favorites including the “Blade” trilogy, “Lone Star,” and so many more.
Kristofferson has recorded 30 albums, including three with pals Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings as part of the Highwaymen. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and has received countless awards. Many would have hung their hat by now. Instead, Kristofferson has barely paused for breath.
Tickets will go on sale to the public on Tuesday, August 13 at 9 a.m. Tickets may be purchased by calling the NIACC Box Office at 1-888-466-4222, extension 4188. They are also available online at www.niacc.edu/boxoffice.
