Volunteers Needed to Make a Difference in Local Communities – Franklin County
RSVP, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for people 55 and older, is looking for volunteers to meet community needs, especially in area schools. Most volunteers serve just one hour per week and scheduling is flexible. RSVP also provides training for volunteers. The opportunities in Franklin County include:
Reading Buddy volunteers help elementary-school students who need extra one-one-one attention to improve their reading skills.
Walking Buddy volunteers utilize conversation strategies and active listening when meeting with teacher-designated students in an effort to improve students’ social skills, while enjoying the walking path.
Pen Pal volunteers exchange letters monthly with 4th and 5th grade students to help develop writing skills and foster intergenerational relationships.
Please join us for an informational open house to explore volunteer opportunities through RSVP. Anyone age 55 and older is welcome to attend:
