Mason City Clinic Proudly Presents Gaelic Storm
Mason City Clinic proudly presents Gaelic Storm, at the North Iowa Community Auditorium on the NIACC campus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 2nd, 2018. This presentation is part of the 2017-2018 Performing Arts and Leadership Series for the 20th Anniversary Season.
James Sauer, from Mason City, is thrilled Gaelic Storm is returning this year “Great music. A high energy band that’s as fun to watch as to listen to. How can you not laugh at Patrick’s Blarney filled stories and facial expressions? I challenge folks to not tap their feet when they play. Don’t forget to LISTEN, every song has a story, often a very funny one. Sometimes, the Guinness fairy appears.”
Gaelic Storm formed in the mid-1990s as a pub band in Santa Monica, California. Ever since, the five-piece band has created 10 albums and performed more than 3,000 live shows and even appeared in the blockbuster film “Titanic”. Gaelic Storm has built a loyal following as diverse as the band’s own music. Fans of traditional Irish music have championed the group for years, as have fans of harder-edged Celtic rock. They have straddled the line between tradition and innovation infusing traditional Celtic rock with modern influences, and updating the genre for a new generation that has been raised on rock, country, and folk music. The band mixes their personal favorites with fan favorites, all while telling the crowd humorous stories and anecdotes, creating an interactive party atmosphere that s truly one of a kind.
Steve Twigger, a member of the band, says “Playing for a new crowd is great, it takes you back to those early days, where you’ve got something to prove. We could just do Irish festivals, but why not play a cross over show where 90% of the audience doesn’t know you, and you have to make them know you? That’s what makes your band good”.
